Minnesota requires that all Food Managers obtain a Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) certification by attending an approved course and passing an approved exam to get the CFPM Certificate. If you already have a Minnesota CFPM Certificate, then you only need to take a renewal course to extend your certification.

Once you have completed the Initial CFPM Course and passed the final exam, you must then submit your certificate to the Minnesota Department of Health and pay a fee to be registered. Just follow these steps:
The MN Department of Health will send your Minnesota CFPM Certificate, which is valid for 3 years.
After you have completed the Continuing Education refresher course, you must submit your certificate of completion to the MN Department of Health:

Once you have completed the Initial CFPM Course, you are ready to take the exam. This exam will have a Remote Proctor, meaning that you will need a computer with a camera and audio, which allows a remote live proctor to observe you while you take the exam.
In order to take your certification exam, you must have a system that meets the requirements and a valid ID. Watch the video to see all the rules that our proctoring partner, Integrity Advocate, enforces to ensure the exam is taken securely.
Once you’ve set up your exam area and the Integrity Advocate proctor has approved, you may begin the exam.
Your certification will become available in your account within 1-2 business days after passing the exam.
