Who needs to renew certification?

The State of Minnesota requires that every food establishment licensee must employ a CFPM. If you already hold an expiring Minnesota-approved Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) certification that is registered with the MDH then you only need to take a renewal course to extend your certification for another 3 years

Is the renewal course state-approved?

Yes. Responsible Training's Continuing Education Renewal Course has been approved by the Minnesota Department of Health.

How does this course work?

There is no final exam for this course. Instead, you must read every slide and take the quizzes after each chapter. When you have viewed all the slides, you have completed the course.

How do I register the Continuing Education Renewal Course with the Minnesota Department of Health?

After you have completed the Continuing Education refresher course, you must submit your certificate of completion to the MN Department of Health:

1. Download your Responsible Training Continuing Education Certificate to your computer.
2. Go to the MDH Online Licensing System page.
3. Login to your existing account.
4. Upload the certificate that you downloaded in step 1.
5. Confirm the accuracy of the information and submit your application.
6. Pay $45 to the State of Minnesota.

The MN Department of Health will send your Minnesota CFPM Certificate, which is valid for 3 years.

How long does it take to complete?

The course takes about 2 hours to complete and is entirely online.
