Why should I choose Responsible Training?

We understand that you have plenty of choices available when picking a training program. At Responsible Training, we take our role in this industry seriously, and we’ve been building our reputation as a trusted partner for individuals and businesses since 2004. We are sure that you will be fully satisfied with the experience you have with us.

What prior education do I need for this program?

There are no prerequisites to sign up for any of our programs. You will need basic Internet skills such as locating and logging into websites, then reading and following the instructions found there. 



What is your refund policy?

Responsible Training’s first consideration is customer satisfaction. If you request a refund before a course is completed and a certificate is issued, we will be happy to refund you the full amount of the transaction within 30 days of purchase of the course.

What is the cost of the course and what methods of payment are accepted?

The cost of each course is located in the course catalog. You may pay using all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express).


Is it secure to send my credit card information over the Internet?

Yes. Responsible Training uses a secure server to process all payments due to the sensitive nature of online transactions.



Can I take the course from various locations and devices?

Our courses are set up for students to access their account from any computer with an Internet connection. Most of our courses can be completed using a smartphone or tablet. However, our Food Protection Manager exam requires a computer with a webcam and microphone.

Do I need to have sound on my computer to take these classes?

While sound is a feature of many of our courses, it is not necessary for a customer to have sound in order to learn the course material. All information played in audio is also displayed in text by the course player.

is there testing?

Yes, there are quizzes at the end of each chapter of training material and a final exam at the end of the course. The quizzes are not graded, but the test is. You will immediately see the results of your quizzes and exam as soon as you complete them.

who will see my personal data?

Your information will only be used by Responsible Training for training records and certificate management purposes. You can give others the information they need to verify your certificate status.

how soon will i get my certificate?

You may download your certificate as soon as you pass the final exam and any time after that you need a copy. Our Food Protection Manager Certification will be available within 1 business day of pasing the exam.

current students

i need a copy of my certificate. how do i get this?

To access a copy of your certificate, you must log in to your account and select the course you took under “My Training”. As long as you have completed the course, your certificate will be available on the left side of the page.

From Before July 5, 2024
If you earned your certificate before July 5, 2025 you will need to go to the Find My Certificate page. Enter your name and date of birth exactly as you entered when you registered to purchase your course. Alternatively, you can enter your certificate ID if you know it.

i cannot log into my course. What should i do?

This is almost always an issue with your username and password being incorrect. Go to the Login Page and select “Forgot Password” to reset your password. If you continue to have difficulties please call us at 866-409-9190.






what happens if i get disconnected from the internet or need to come back later and take my course?

If you get disconnected from the Internet, you will need to log back into your account on our home page and enter your username/password as a returning student. In this case, you will return to the beginning of the lesson you were working on. Remote proctored exams must be restarted if your internet connection is disrupted.

What happens if i have technical difficulties or the system malfunctions during the course?

How long is a certificate good for?

The regulatory authorities determine how long your certificate will be valid. It will be printed on your certificate and may be checked by using our online verification program.


What if I fail the test?

The number of attempts you have on the exam will be determined by the course you are taking. In most cases, you can contact us to have your exam unlocked free of charge if you have used all your exam attempts. However, the Food Protection Manager exam must be repurchased if you use all your exam attempts

Food Handler

What will I learn?

  • The fundamentals of preventing foodborne illness, including knowing how sickness is spread and how food becomes contaminated through unsafe practices.
  • Why hygiene is important, and how personal grooming, handwashing, and the use of protective clothing help you avoid illness.
  • How to spot the signs and symptoms of communicable diseases and foodborne illnesses that will keep you from working, and when you'll need a doctor's permission before working with foods.
  • How to accept and store food securely, including when to refuse food deliveries and how to keep food safe from contamination.
  • How to prevent foodborne illness by controlling food temperature, including how to measure and keep foods in safe temperature zones, as well as how to safely cook, cool, and reheat food.
  • The proper cleaning and sanitizing procedures to ensure a safe environment.

How does this course work?

We've made it easy to receive your Food Handlers Card, meet state and company standards and begin work as quickly as possible. This course includes:

  • An overview of food safety issues, rules, and practices so you'll know how to keep your workplace safe.
  • Self-paced lessons that take less than 15 minutes and have a voice-over option that reads the lesson aloud.
  • Short 5 minute quizzes to see how much you've retained after each lesson.
  • A final test once all six lessons are completed. To get your Food Handlers Certificate, you must achieve a 70%.







What are the certificate requirements?

The Certificate Program consists of six easy to understand lessons in food handling, each with a quick quiz so you can be sure you understand the lesson and are prepared for the exam. To be awarded a Food Handlers Certificate, you must view all lessons and quizzes, then take 40 question multiple choice exam, which you must pass with 70% to be awarded a Food Handlers Certificate.

How long is the certificate valid?

The ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) Food Handlers Certificate is valid for three years.




When will I get the Food Handlers Certificate?

Once you have completed the course and passed the final exam with a 70% or higher grade, you may immediately download your certificate. You will immediately see the results of your quizzes and exam as soon as you complete them. Detailed instructions are available at the end of the exam.

CAN I TAKE THE FOOD HANDLERS COURSE AND EXAM ON MY SMART PHONE?

Yes. The course presentation is optimized for a desktop presentation on a Chrome browser, but it also works on mobile devices. If you have problems viewing a page while holding your phone in portrait mode, try rotating it to landscape mode (be sure orientation lock is OFF).

Food Manager

Can I Get My Food Safety Certificate Online?

Yes – Responsible Training's online Food Protection Manager program is ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) accredited for all the states and locales that accept the ANAB-CFP standard. The live remote proctoring feature allows you to complete the course and take the exam online in the convenience of your own home or office. Using the Responsible Training online training and remote proctored exam program saves time and money.

Do All Food Establishment Managers Need This Certificate?

Generally speaking, food establishment managers in all states need the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) accredited Food Protection Manager certification. However, check with your state and local health departments to confirm exactly which personnel must be certified and under what conditions.


When will I know the results of the Exam and get my certificate?

A page showing the results of your exam will be displayed immediately after you submit it. This page will include your overall score and how well you did in each section of the exam. 

After you have passed the exam, your certificate will become available within five business days, but usually after only one day.

What do I need to take this training and exam?

A computer with a webcam and a microphone, and a valid credit card will be required. Once you have purchased your training and exam, you can get started right away studying the materials in the training course at your own pace. When you’ve completed the course you may take your remote proctored exam so you can finish off this process.

What is a “remote proctored” exam?

This just means that you will be monitored remotely while taking your Food Protection Manager Exam. The inherent problem with traditional online exams is that there is no way to know who is taking the test. By using remote proctoring, we can confirm your identity and be sure that the same person who registered for the exam is the person doing the work.

The Food Protection Manager Exam must be taken alone in a distraction free room. You will be required to show the proctor the room that you are using to take the exam using your webcam.

Can I take the Food Protection Manager Exam on my phone?

No, you must use a computer with a webcam and a microphone to take the exam. If you have technical issues please contact support at 866-409-9190.






How long do I have to complete the training and exam?

Once purchased, you will have as much time as you need to access and complete the training. You will have 2 hours to complete the exam once you have started it.

Does the training cover everything I’ll need to know for the exam?

Yes - our course is designed to prepare you for taking the Food Protection Manager Exam.

How is a Food Protection Manager Certification Used?

Holding a Food Manager Certification shows employers that you understand food safety and health regulations and have the knowledge needed to oversee food handling and processing operations. Employers can check your certification status through our online system.












What Will I Be Tested On In The Exam?

This certification program will assess your knowledge and understanding in:

  • Highly Susceptible Populations and FDA Food Code Terminology - 6%
  • Foodborne Illness - 8%
  • Health Inspections and Facility Maintenance - 5%
  • Food Management Responsibilities - 8%
  • Food Controls - 25%
  • Proper Cleaning and Sanitizing Measures for Food Equipment - 17%
  • Employee Hygiene - 6%
  • Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) - 19%
  • Proper Use of Chemicals and Pest Control - 6%

There are two possible test forms you can take. Both test forms are equivalent with the same minimum passing score of 75% +\- 0.1%.

How long is the Food Protection Manager Certification Valid?

The certification for Food Protection Manager is valid for five years from the date the certificate is issued.



Where is the Food Manager Certification accepted?

Responsible Training's Food Protection Manager program is an ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) and the Conference for Food Protection (CFP) accredited exam. As such, the certification you earn from passing that exam is accepted as the required Food Protection Manager Certification for all 50 states and Washington D.C.

Alcohol Seller Server

What will I Learn?

Upon successful completion of the Responsible Alcohol Seller-Server (RASS) training course, you will understand:

  • The definition of intoxication and the dangers of alcohol poisoning
  • How to spot signs of intoxication and the general guidelines regarding the sale of alcohol to intoxicated persons
  • How to spot minors and the possible penalties for providing/selling alcohol to minors
  • When to cut off service and how to intervene when an intoxicated person or minor is involved
  • The way that alcohol affects the body
  • What to look for when checking identification and how to spot a fake
  • On Premise versus package alcohol sales

How does this course work?

This Responsible Beverage Seller-Server Training Course is modeled after various state codes. It is periodically updated to stay current with the modern science and to improve quality. Each lesson contains detailed information on the topic and fun exercises.

Self-paced lessons that take less than 15 minutes and have a voice-over option that reads the lesson aloud.

Short 5 minute quizzes to see how much you've retained after each lesson.

There is a final exam to take once all four lessons are completed. To get your Responsible Training RBS Certificate, you must achieve a 70%.


What are the certificate Requirements?

The Responsible Alcohol Seller-Server program consists of four easy to understand lessons in alcohol service, each with a quick quiz so you can be sure you understand the lesson and are prepared for the exam. To be awarded a Responsible Alcohol Seller-Server Certificate from Responsible Training, you must view all lessons and quizzes, then take a 25 question multiple choice exam, which you must pass with 70% to be awarded the RASS Certificate.

How long is the Certificate Valid?

The Responsible Alcohol Seller-Server Certificate from Responsible Training is valid for three years.





Allergen Awareness

What are the certificate Requirements?

The Certificate Program consists of four easy to understand lessons, each with a quick quiz so you can be sure you understand the lesson and are prepared for the exam. To be awarded an Allergen Awareness Certificate, you must view all lessons and quizzes, then take 25 question multiple choice exam, which you must pass with 70% to be awarded the allergen awareness certificate.

How long is the Certificate Valid?

Your certificate will be valid for 3 years. It will be printed on your certificate and may be checked by using our online verification program.

  • The symptoms of an allergic reaction

how to use an allergen awareness training certificate

Holding an Allergen Awareness Training Certificate shows employers that you have passed the minimum requirement of understanding food allergens. Employers can check your certificate status through our online system.

When applying for jobs, you may call yourself a "Responsible Training Allergen Awareness Certificate Recipient". You can refer to your "Responsible Training Allergen Awareness Certificate" on your resume.

You may not say or imply that you are "certified," "certificated," "licensed," "registered" or "accredited"; these terms indicate a different type of program than Allergen Awareness Training.





Underground Storage

What are the certificate Requirements?

The Operator Training Program consists of eleven easy-to-understand lessons, each with a quick quiz so you can be sure you understand the lesson and are prepared for the exam. To be awarded a Class A & B UST Operator Training certificate, you must view all lessons and quizzes, then take 25 question multiple choice exam, which you must pass with 70% to be awarded a certificate. If you don't pass the final exam the first time, no problem! You may retake both the training course and the exam, or skip the course and retake the exam as many times as you need.

Who needs this course?

In many states, anyone who is in charge of the day-to-day operations of a UST facility, such as a gas station, airport, or commercial refueling depot, must hold a certificate from a UST Class A & B Operator Training course.

All employees who work at a facility with underground storage tanks should have UST Class C Operator Training. This training helps to ensure that all employees are able to recognize spills and act accordingly to maintain safety and minimize environmental damage.

what you will learn in this course?

Upon successful completion of this training program, you will understand:

  • The proper way to operate and maintain a UST facility
  • The history of UST regulation
  • Spill and overfill prevention methods and equipment
  • Release detection methods and equipment and notification requirements
  • Reporting and record keeping requirements
  • How to respond to an emergency
  • How to clean up releases of regulated substances
  • What kind of financial responsibility you must have as an owner/operator
  • How to temporarily or permanently close your UST facility

How does this course work?

Each lesson contains detailed information on the topic and fun exercises. The lessons have an optional voice over that will read the lesson out loud. After reviewing lesson materials, a 5-7 question quiz at the end will test what you have learned. Once you’ve completed all 11 lessons, you can take the final exam. You must score a passing grade of 70% to receive your Class A & B UST Operator Training certificate.

The Class A & B UST Operator Training Program is designed to be completed at your own pace. Most people finish this course in about 4 hours. However, you must complete each lesson before advancing to the next. Each lesson can be reviewed in 15 minutes or less. Quizzes should take 5 minutes each.

Group Solutions

i am a manager who would like a way to offer group training to my employees. how do i do this?

In most areas our DVD is valid for group training. The DVD allows you to certify a food handler group easily at $12.00 per person plus health department fees. You can bulk purchase online courses and issue them to your employees as well. We can also issue you a code that will tie all certificates to your account.
