Texas requires a Certified Food Manager (CFM) certificate for individuals in charge of food establishments that prepare, handle, or serve non-prepackaged food.
This is only the exam. It is for experienced food managers who already have the required knowledge.

The exam must be completed within 90 minutes.
Before you start the exam, you are asked to answer 10 security questions. During the exam, you will occasionally be asked to provide the answers you saved to these questions. If you answer incorrectly, you will be locked out of the exam and need to call support and request the course be unlocked.
The Texas Certified Food Manager exam has no proctor, so you can take it on your computer, tablet, or smart phone.

Yes. Your certificate is valid across any food service establishment in Texas. The Texas Certified Food Manager certificate is not valid outside of Texas, however.
Your Texas Certified Food Manager certificate is valid for 5 years. This information will be printed on your certificate and may be checked by using our online verification program.
Probably. Texas also accepts the ANAB-approved Food Protection Manager certification. If your out-of-state Food Protection Manager course is ANAB-approved and not expired then it is accepted in Texas.

Once you have completed the course, you are ready to take the exam. This exam will have a Remote Proctor, meaning that you will need a computer with a camera and audio which allows a remote live proctor to observe you while you take the exam.
In order to take your certification exam, you must ensure that you have a system that meets the requirements and a valid ID. Watch the video to see all the rules that our proctoring partner, Integrity Advocate, enforces to ensure the exam is taken securely.
Once you’ve set up your exam area and the Integrity Advocate proctor has approved, you may begin the exam. You must score a passing grade of 75% to receive your Food Protection Manager Certification.
