New and existing food handlers must know the current statutes for the location in which they are employed. Most states today require those working in the profession to pass a course specifically designed for food handlers. Our company offers the Missouri Food Handlers Training in several languages.
The course offer complies with the ASTM E2659 standard practice. This certificate program was developed using the requirements set forth by training specialists, food administration professionals, food handlers, and food safety officials working in the local health department. The organization regularly updates the course to ensure it remains current with the latest food codes. In addition, we continuously review the program to see where changes must be made to improve the quality of the course; learn about changes here.
If you work in Jefferson County, MO, please go to this page to sign up for the approved course.

The current Missouri Food Code does not require a certified manager, however, the person in charge must be capable of demonstrating knowledge about foodborne disease prevention, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles, food code requirements, and train and monitor staff.
Missouri counties may adopt their own, possibly more stringent, food safety training requirements. Local jurisdictions may require food manager training, Food Handlers Training, and additional permits and fees.
You can learn more about the Missouri Food Code from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. The Retail Food Safety page has information about state and local training requirements.
The Jefferson County Health Department requires all food handlers to obtain ANSI accredited Food Handler or Manager level certification. Responsible Training offers a Food Handlers course that meets Jefferson County training standards.
Check with your county to find out if there are training requirements for your position.
You may distribute physical and electronic copies of your Responsible Training Food Handlers Certificate to current and prospective employers, government agencies, or anyone else to demonstrate that you have met the requirements laid out in the ANAB (ANSI National Accreditation Board) ANSI/ASTM E2659-18 standard practice for certificate programs. According to this program, when referring to yourself as a certificate holder, you may say that you are a "Responsible Training Food Handler Certificate Recipient" or a "Holder of a Responsible Training Food Handler Certificate." You may not say that you are "certified,"certificated," licensed," "registered," or "accredited."
Every person who prepares food and serves it to others outside of their household benefits from taking a valid Food Handlers Course. This includes those working in restaurants, bars, hospitals, food trucks, school cafeterias, nursing homes, and more. Holding the Food Handlers Certificate demonstrates that you have a thorough understanding of food safety. In fact, any person who comes into contact with food throughout the course of their work duties benefits from obtaining this certificate. Many assume only those who prepare and cook food should take the course, but those who serve it or clean up after customers/diners also find the training to be beneficial.
