New and existing food handlers must know the current statutes for the location in which they are employed. Most states today require those working in the profession to pass a course specifically designed for food handlers. Our company offers the Hawaii Food Handler Training in four languages.
The course offer complies with the ANAB (ANSI National Accreditation Board) ANSI/ASTM E2659-18 standard practice. This certificate program was developed using the requirements set forth by training specialists, food administration professionals, food handlers, and food safety officials working in the local health department. The organization regularly updates the course to ensure it remains current with the latest food codes. In addition, we continuously review the program to see where changes must be made to improve the quality of the course; learn about changes here.

The mandate for Food Handlers Education Certificate requires at least one employee present at every food establishment during normal hours to have a formal Food Handlers Training level certificate. ANSI (American National Standards Institute) ANAB (ANSI National Accreditation Board) accredited courses meet this requirement.
Give your employer a copy of your certificate once you've printed it so they can keep it on hand.
Food Handlers Training programs are required to be ANAB accredited or a course provided by a county that conforms to state Food Handlers Training requirements. A listing of ANAB accredited training programs can be found on the ANAB Food Handler Training Certificate Program (Accredited) page.
The Food Safety Program is discussed in the Food Safety Education page of the State of Hawaii, Department of Health.
You may distribute physical and electronic copies of your Responsible Training Food Handlers Certificate to current and prospective employers, government agencies, or anyone else to demonstrate that you have met the requirements laid out in the ANAB (ANSI National Accreditation Board) ANSI/ASTM E2659-18 standard practice for certificate programs. According to this program, when referring to yourself as a certificate holder, you may say that you are a "Responsible Training Food Handler Certificate Recipient" or a "Holder of a Responsible Training Food Handler Certificate." You may not say that you are "certified,"certificated," licensed," "registered," or "accredited."
Beneficiaries of this Food Handlers Program include chefs, cooks, dieticians, managers, pantry workers, stewards, waiters, waitresses, and a host of other professions. This includes those working in restaurants, bars, hospitals, food trucks, school cafeterias, nursing homes, and more. Holding the Food Handlers Certificate demonstrates that you have a thorough understanding of food safety. In fact, any person who comes into contact with food throughout the course of their work duties benefits from obtaining this certificate. Many assume only those who prepare and cook food should take the course, but those who serve it or clean up after customers/diners also find the training to be beneficial.
