Most workers who serve alcohol either for immediate consumption (e.g., bars, restaurants, tasting rooms, clubs, stadiums, movie theaters, hotels, caterers) or packaged alcohol in stores with 5,000 sf of floor space or less, must have Responsible Vendor training.
Knowledge of alcohol laws can help protect you against legal repercussions and will better prepared to do your job and serve customers appropriately and safely.
Many different situations can come up while working in an alcohol service role, and you might not have the knowledge needed to deal with those circumstances if you didn’t bother to complete the training process.
Holding a Florida Responsible Vendor Certification shows your employer that you have passed the minimum requirement of understanding the laws governing the sale of alcohol in the State of Florida.
Employers are required to maintain records of employee training. Providing a copy of your certificate allows your employer to confirm that you have met the state's requirements for Responsible Vendor Training.
All non-managerial employees of Responsible Vendor establishments must receive Responsible Vendor Training within 30 days of employment.
If you are trying to fit this training into your busy schedule, we have good news – you won’t need to commit hours and hours of study time to this process.
Work at your own pace and go through each of the four lessons plus the final review and exam as you are ready and have time available. Roughly 20 minutes will be required for each lesson and quiz, and there are four of those to complete, followed by a final review and exam process.
With some time set aside to focus on the task, the training can be completed in a day and you will be finished with your Responsible Vendor Training.
