Who needs a Food Handlers Card?

Anyone who prepares, handles, or serves food in a licensed food establishment —such as restaurants, cafes, or food trucks—may be required to have an ANAB-accredited Food Handlers Card. This includes cooks, servers, dishwashers, and other staff involved in food preparation or service. 

Is the certificate state-approved?

Our ANAB-accredited Food Handler course is accepted in most states. Check with your state or local health department to see if there are any special certification requirements for your area.

How long does it take to complete?

The course takes about 1 to 2 hours to complete and is entirely online.

Is there an exam?

Yes — at the end of the Food Handler course you’ll take an online final exam testing the food safety concepts you have learned. When you successfully pass the exam you’ll have earned an ANAB-Accredited Food Handlers certificate.

When do I get my certificate?
