Frequently asked questions
Who needs a Food Protection Manager Certificate?
The Ohio Department of Health’s certification in food protection rule requires each risk level III and risk level IV food service operation and retail food establishment to have at least one employee with supervisory and management responsibility to have obtained the Ohio Manager Certification in food protection.
What do I do after completing the course?
For the state of Ohio, you must complete an Ohio Department of Health (ODH)-approved training course and an ANAB-CFP accredited exam. The Responsible Training Ohio Certification in Food Manager Training Course meets the course portion of these requirements.
Once you have completed both the course and the exam, fill out this form and send it to foodsafety@odh.ohio.gov along with your certificate of course completion and your certificate of exam completion.
How long does it take to complete?
The course, which has page timers, takes about 6 to 8 hours to complete.
Is there a final exam?
No. This course does not have a final exam. It is for managers who already have earned the ANAB/CFP Food Protection Manager certification and just need to complete the course itself.

Can I take the course a mobile device?
Yes. You can take the course on a phone, tablet, or computer.
When do I get my certificate?
You’ll receive your Responsible Training Food Protection Manager course certificate immediately after you complete the course.
