How do I get the Food Service Sanitation Manager certificate from Kings College?

Submission by mail:

1. Complete this ANAB-accredited course and exam then download and print your certificate and verification of training hours letter.
2. Download the application form then print and complete and sign it. 
3. Make a copy of a valid government-issued photo ID.
4. Obtain a money order for $52.00 payable to Kennedy-King College.
5. Mail to Kennedy-King, Food Service Sanitation Program, 6301 South Halsted, W Building, Chicago IL 60621-3979

Who needs a Food Protection Manager Certificate?

In Illinois, food establishments are required to be under the supervision of a certified food protection manager in accordance with the state Food Code and adopted FDA Food Code. In addition, the Chicago Dept. of Public Health requires the Persons in Charge (PIC) to have a Foodservice Sanitation Manager Certificate.

How long does it take to complete?

The course takes about 6 to 8 hours to complete and is entirely online. The exam has a 2 hour time limit.

Do I need to schedule the final exam?

No. Our on-demand remote proctored exam is available 24/7. You just start the exam and within a few minutes a live proctor will come online to get you started.

How does remote proctoring work?

Once you have completed the course, you are ready to take the exam. The exam will have a Remote Proctor, meaning that you will need a computer with a camera and audio, which allows a remote live proctor to observe you while you take the exam.

In order to take your certification exam, you must have a system that meets the requirements and a valid ID. Watch the video to see all the rules that our proctoring partner, Integrity Advocate, enforces to ensure the exam is taken securely. 

Once you’ve set up your exam area and the Integrity Advocate proctor has approved, you may begin the exam. You must score a passing grade of 75% to receive your Food Protection Manager Certification.

Your certification will become available in your account within 1-2 business days after passing the exam.

Can I take the course and exam on a mobile device?

You can take the course on a phone, tablet, or computer. However, you must take the exam on a computer with working camera, mic, and speakers.

When do I get my certificate?

You’ll receive your Responsible Training Food Protection Manager Certificate within 1 to 2 days after passing the final exam.

For how long is the certificate valid?

While the ANAB CFP Food Protection Manager Certificate is valid for 5 years, the city of Chicago requires that you be recertified every 3 years.
