Yes, the state of California requires that a certified food protection manager must be present at a food establishment during all hours of operation. This includes all non-temporary facilities preparing food or serving food that is Time/Temperature Control for Safety (TCS).
Yes. Anyone who is serving alcohol in a place where it will be consumed, and the managers overseeing those servers, are required to hold a valid Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification.
You must create an account in the RBS Portal and receive your Server ID Number before you can start this course.
When you start your course bundle, you will need to select a course from the dropdown menu at the top of the page.
You may take the courses in any order desired. You will be awarded a certificate for each course that you successfully complete.
Before starting the RBS course, you must register with the California RBS Portal and receive your Server ID Number. Enter your Server ID Number in the form displayed at the beginning of the course.
After you complete this course, you will go to the RBS Portal to take the ABC Alcohol Server Certification Exam and become officially certified.
A final exam becomes available on the RBS Portal within 24 hours after all 5 lessons are completed. To get your RBS Certificate, you must achieve a 70% on the ABC Alcohol Server Certification Exam.
Once you have completed the course, you are ready to take the exam. This exam will have a Remote Proctor, meaning that you will need a computer or tablet with a camera and audio which allows a remote live proctor to observe you while you take the exam.
In order to take your certification exam, you must have a quiet place to take the exam and a valid ID. Watch the video to see all the rules that our proctoring partner, Integrity Advocate, enforces to ensure the exam is taken securely.
Once you’ve set up your exam area and the Integrity Advocate proctor has approved, you may begin the exam. You must score a passing grade of 75% to receive your Food Protection Manager Certification.
Your certification will become available in your account within 1-2 business days after passing the exam.
The ANAB/CFP Food Manager Certification is valid for five years.
The California RBS Certificate is valid for three years.
